URGENT: 12 dead, 27 wounded in suicide bombing targeted funeral north of Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, a source in the Iraqi police confirmed, that 12 people were killed and 27 others were wounded in a suicide bombing targeted a funeral north of Baghdad.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “A suicide bomber with an explosive belt blew himself up at noon today, in a funeral in the area of Hamamiyat in Taji district north of Baghdad. It resulted in killing 12 civilians and wounding 27 others.”

The source, who asked not to be named, added, “Security force rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the dead bodies to the Forensic Medicine Department, while prevented anyone from approaching the scene in anticipation of other attacks.”
