URGENT: 200 American military advisers at Speicher Base in Tikrit

 

 

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com)The member of the security committee in Salahuddin province, Khalid Al-Jassam, said in statements to Anatolia agency followed by IraqiNews.com that 200 American military advisors arrived to Speicher Base near Tikrit on Wednesday afternoon, pointing out that these advisers are not accompanied by any American military forces.

He added that the mission of American advisers is “to study and assess the security situation in the whole province of Salah Al-Din, and provide expertise and advice to the Iraqi army in the face of the so-called Islamic state in Iraq and the Levant”, asserting that these advisers are moving permanently between the American Embassy in Baghdad and Speicher Base.

Al-Jassam noted that hundreds of American military armored vehicles are expected to reach Salahuddin at the end of the month to support the Iraqi forces in order to begin a massive military operation to regain control of areas dominated by the organization ISIS in Salahuddin province recently.
