URGENT/ 3 cops wounded in Falluja blast

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Three policemen on Saturday were wounded in an explosive charge attack in northeastern Falluja city, a police source said. “Today, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near an Iraqi police patrol vehicle in al-Zaghareet area, northeastern Falluja, seriously wounding three patrolmen,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The wounded were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and the area was sealed off by the police, the source pointed out. Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. Anbar is the largest province in Iraq geographically. Encompassing much of the country’s western territory, it shares borders with Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Anbar is overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim Arab. Anbar’s main cities are Falluja, the capital Ramadi, Haditha, Hit, Aana and Rutba. The name of the province translates “granaries,” as this region was the primary entrepôt on the western borders of Lakhmid Kingdom.
