URGENT / 3rd blast rocks Baghdad; 22 casualties

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A total of 22 persons were reported killed or wounded in a car bomb blast that ripped through Baghdad’s al-Biyaa area, a police source said on Sunday. “On Sunday noon, a car rigged with explosives went off near a market in Baghdad’s southern area of al-Biyaa, killing nine persons and wounding 13 others,” the source told IraqiNews.com. The blast is the third to rock the capital today. Earlier today, two explosive charge attacks detonated in two separate incidents in the capital Baghdad. The first IED, planted by unknown men in al-Qahira neighborhood close to the Higher Judicial Institute in northeastern Baghdad, went off while an Iraqi police patrol vehicle was passing the location. The explosion wounded three patrolmen and a civilian. Meanwhile, five persons, including three patrolmen and two civilians, were wounded in another explosive charge attack in Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of Zayouna.   SS (S)/SR 1
