Urgent – Gunmen control Tikrit Tasfirat prison

Salah-il-Din, Tikrit (IraqiNews.com) Unidentified gunmen managed to control the Tasfirat Prison in Tikrit on Thursday evening.

Security source stated to Iraqi News IraqiNews.com on Thursday that “The gunmen detonated a car bomb at the entrance of Tasfirat Prison then they opened fire targeting the prison guards,” noting that “The gunmen took control on the prison with assistance from some prisoners.”

The source added “The gunmen took hostages of policemen and prisoners while the Army forces surround the building of the prison to arrest the gunmen and free the hostages.”
