URGENT: Security forces withdraw from center to south of Baiji

Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) On Thursday, the security Committee in the Council of Baiji in Salahuddin province announced that, the security forces have withdrawn from the center of the district to the south, as a result of the violent attacks carried out by the terrorist organization ISIS and lack of weapons and gear.

Chairman of the Committee, Saad Zahir said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Local police forces and fighters of the tribes withdrew from the Modern Neighborhood in the center of Baiji (40 km north of Tikrit), to the Saline area south of the district,” attributing that to “the violent attacks carried out by the ISIS organization, as well as running out of gear and shortage in arms and wheels.”

Zahir added, “The forces alone fought great battles for over 8 days against ISIS terrorists, who attacked us from three axes, where 10 were killed and 21 others were wounded.”

In the November 14, 2014, the Ministry of Defense announced, Baiji, northern of Tikrit, was entirely liberated from the control of ISIS, indicating that they had dismantled all IEDs.
