 US to sell $395 million worth of ammunition to Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The Defense Security Cooperation Agency in the Pentagon announced on Thursday, the approval of the sale of $395 million worth ammunition to Iraq.

The agency said in a statement on its official website, followed by IraqiNews.com, “Iraq had submitted an application to get 5000 mortar shells of 81 mm and 684,000 shells of 40 mm, in addition to 532,000 shells of MK19 and 40,000 shells of 155mm.”

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the demand also included ammunition for small arms, spare parts and support equipment, as well as technical documentation and training of staff.

The statement added, “This development comes after Iraqi officials revealed that they expected the United States to send F-16 fighter planes to Baghdad during the summer.”
