(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the American government announced the approval of the sale of tank ammunition manufactured by General Dynamics Corp to Iraq, valued at $600 million dollars. The objective of this ammunition is to assist the government in Baghdad establishing a comprehensive ground defense capability.

There will still be 30 days for Congress to prevent the sale process despite the fact that this procedure is a rare to occur since the arms deals are carefully studied before congressional notification.

According to Reuters, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Defense (Pentagon) informed the lawmakers that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to sell 10000 pieces of M 831 120-mm anti-tank ammunition, and 10000 M 865 120-mm warheads, in addition to 26 thousand pieces of other munitions, as well as logistic services.”

The American army does launch air raids on the so-called Islamic state in Iraq and Syria, while the United States is seeking to reinforce the Iraqi government to be able to resist the extremists more effectively.
