Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed the transition to a bilateral relationship with the United States in accordance with the Strategic Framework Agreement.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting on Thursday with Senator Christopher Coons, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the US Congress, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized the value of the alliance between his country and the United States and stated that, after the international coalition’s duties in Iraq are fulfilled, the two sides would begin a bilateral relationship.

In light of the impending holy month of Ramadan, Al-Sudani emphasized the necessity of putting an end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the war in Gaza.

Coons noted the depth of the connection between the United States of America and Iraq and the need to expand it to cover economic, cultural, security, and health aspects, demonstrating that President Joe Biden requested his visit to the region and his meeting with the Prime Minister.

Iraq and the United States agreed recently to launch a High Military Committee to evaluate the threat ISIS poses and to draw up a timetable for the gradual withdrawal of the advisors of the international coalition combating ISIS in Iraq.

The agreement includes a transition to comprehensive political, economic, cultural, security, and military bilateral relations with the countries taking part in the international coalition to be consistent with the vision of the Iraqi government.
