Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Recently, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani met with Vagit Alekperov, Chairman of the Russian Federation Committee of Manufacturers and Businessmen and founder of the Lukoil Company.

Plans to develop Lukoil’s West Qurna and Erido oil resources were discussed at the meeting. They also talked about how to get over various obstacles that restrict Lukoil from operating in these oil fields, as well as about the company’s involvement in combined energy projects in Iraq and upcoming licensing rounds.

Expanding on the Iraqi PM’s October 2023 visit to Moscow, they also talked about Russian firms’ operations throughout Iraq during the discussion.

Lukoil is reportedly the second-biggest corporation in Russia, after Gazprom.
