Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) announced on Wednesday that an Iraqi delegation held a meeting with officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

A statement issued by the CBI mentioned that the meetings of the Iraqi delegation with officials from the IMF and the World Bank took place the US capital, Washington, where the Iraqi delegation included the CBI’s governor, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, and the Iraqi Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and other Iraqi officials.

The meeting addressed an Iraqi program where the IMF provides technical and advisory support for the economic reform adopted by the Iraqi government to achieve financial and monetary stability, the statement explained.

Both sides agreed to prepare a draft agreement on the program and to start its implementation in the coming days, the statement indicated.

Al-Alaq called on the IMF to provide support to the CBI’s procedures aiming to achieve stability in the exchange rate, in accordance with international practices and Iraq’s agreement with the IMF, which was ratified by the Iraqi Parliament in 2008, the statement added.
