Iraq to play Qatar in friendly for Khaleeji 20

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s soccer team will play Qatar in a friendly on Tuesday in Doha as part of the two teams’ preparations for the Khaleeji 20 Cup tournament, scheduled to be held in Yemen on November 22. The Iraqi team had left Iraq on Saturday (Oct. 9) with a list that contained the names of 19 players, including three goalkeepers. Five professional players in Qatar will be catching up later. Iraq could not make it to the final of West Asia tournament after it defeated Yemen 2/1 and Palestine 3/0 and a loss of 1/2 to Iran. Iraq had played 25 times against Qatar throughout a period of 35 years. Their first encounter took place on November 28, 1975 within the eliminations qualifying to the Asia Cup of Nations.
