Iraq-UAE friendly ends in 2/2 tie

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A friendly football game between Iraq and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday ended in a 2/2 tie. The game is part of preparations for the 19th Gulf Cup tournament, to be hosted in the Sultanate of Oman on January 4, 2009. Iraq took the lead when striker Mohammed Nasser Shakroun scored at the 43rd minutes but the UAE captain Mohammed Omar scored an equalizer at the 50th. The UAE footballers scored a second goal at a crucial 80th minute when Mohammed Khamees scored for his team that was supposed to be a winner but Iraq’s Hussein Rahma had another say when scoring an equalizer at the 85th minute. The UAE had hosted and won the 18th Gulf Cup championship.   AmR (P)/SR   1
