Basra Physicians Union postpones election

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Elections to choose a new administrative commission for the Basra Physicians Union have been postponed for one week due to Shiite occasion. “Election will be held next Friday, Feb. 12, 2010,” Dr. Moayad Jomaa, current head of the Union, told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that there are seven candidates competing for the position of the union’s head. Around 1,600 physicians are members of the Physicians Union in Basra, the oil-rich city of Iraq that lies 590 km south of Baghdad. MH (P)/SH ? 1
