Corruption down in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Financial and administrative corruption curve in Iraqi state-run institutions has been going down over the past two years, an anti-corruption official said on Friday. “The rate of corruption has decreased by a great extent,” Ali al-Allaq, head of the higher committee to eliminate corruption in Iraq, told IraqiNews.com news agency. He said that measures in this regard were made according the committee’s standards. “The major form of corruption is bribery given to government employees,” Allaq said. He explained that his committee put a national strategy to eliminate corruption in Iraq for the period 2010–2014 in accordance with UN standards. MH (P)/AmR 2
