Indian company to build 500 megawatt power station in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Wassit local government signed a memorandum of understanding with Indian company BHEL to build a power station with the capacity of 500 megawatt. Member of Media Committee Taha Rudaini told IraqiNews.com news agency that the station will be operated by diesel (black oil). “The province got the final permission from the Ministry of Electricity to build this station”, he added. BHEL implemented five power stations in Sulaimaniyah, Beiji, Rumaila (Basra), Oman, Yemen and UAE, in addition to its responsibility of 70 electrical projects in the region. Discussions to find a venue for the station are underway. Wassit lies 180 km south east Iraqi capital, Baghdad. RM (TP)/SH 585
