MP says AIDS tests necessary at airports

Wassit-Rubaei BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A member of the parliamentary health and environment committee on Thursday called on airport officials and concerned bodies to ensure that all passengers have undergone AIDS tests. “We have received many complaints about the negligence of Iraqi airport and residence department officials in dealing with those who have arrived in Iraq,” MP Azad Bamerni from the Kurdistan Alliance (KA) told IraqiNews.com. Concerned bodies did not instruct them to undergo testing for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, he added. Under the existing laws, foreigners are not granted a residence permit in Iraq unless they are proven free of AIDS. The Kurdistan Alliance (KA), the second largest bloc, holds 53 seats in the 275-member Parliament. SS (P)/SR 1
