New Board for Kurdistan Journalists Association

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Kurdistan Journalists Association elected its new administration through agreement, with the departure of Islamic Federation Party and the Islamic Group members from the board. At the end of 3-day sessions, the new board was elected comprising from Azad Hamad Ameen of the Kurdistan Democratic Party as chairman, Shwan Dawoodi, National Kurdistan Party, as secretary, and other members from the Kurdistan Communist Party, Kurdistan Toilers Party, the Socialist Party, the Islamic Movement, Turkmen and Assyrian and the Conservative Party. Journalist from the Islamic Federation Party and the Islamic Group decided not to participate in this round, because “we wanted the elections to enhance the democratic process in Kurdistan, no pre-made list”, as they stated. This is the third round where elections are not made to elect the board of Kurdistan Journalists Association, which the main posts were divided among the main ruling parties and the remaining ones to other parties in the region.
