New Governor elected for southern Iraq’s Wassit Province.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com – Southern Iraq ’s Wassit Provincial Council has elected Mahdi al-Zubeidy for the post of its new Governor, in a voting that he scored 20 out of its 26 votes, the Spokeswoman for the Council’s Media Committee said on Wednesday.   The new Governor belongs to the Independent Bloc, which is part of the State of Law Coalition , led by Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.   Wassit’s former Governor, Latif Hamad al-Turfa, was sacked, according to a decision taken by the Province’s Council.   PT / SKH   660
