Prime Minister Maliki discussed in South-Korea building of housing city in Iraq, similar to Italy’s Genoa.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq ’s Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, has discussed during his last visit to South-Korea the possibility for building a 100,000 unit city, with complete facilities, similar to Italy ’s Genoa city, the Chairman of the Iraqi Investment Commission, Sami al-Aaraji said on Thursday.   “The forthcoming few days shall witness the discussion of the technical, implementation and contract details with the Korean side, in order to implement the project, expected to be built in Basmaya area in Baghdad, close to Salman Pak township,” Aaraji told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said “the planned city, once it would be completed, shall be enough to house 500,000 people, according the average Iraqi family of five.”   “The Commission has taken into consideration its duty to settle the land ownership on the area, where the planned city would be built on, along with securing services for the project, in order that each citizen would receive a complete flat, on a turn-key basis,” he said, adding that the mechanism of the sale would be based on the payment of an advance by any citizen, who would pay the remaining price of the flat, either cash or by installment.   SKH (IT)
