Subbis sect demand land to build a temple

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Subbis called upon Wassit to allocate a piece of land to build their temple near the banks of the Tigris River, a provincial media member announced today.   Taha Rudaini told IraqiNews.com that the Provincial Council received a delegation representing the Subbis sect who are demanding a piece of land on which to build their temple to perform their prayers.   The request conditioned that the land should be near the banks of the river because of their rituals.   The council promised to study the request.   Subbis declares itself as a religion, not a sect. They have followers in Mesopotamia and Palestine.   Kut, the center of Wassit, lies 180 km southeast of the capital, Baghdad. RM (TS)/SR 511
