VARIETY: Iraq’s Education Minister pays personal bail to release 65 Kirkuk prisoners

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq’s Education Minister, Mohammed Ali Tamim, has managed to help the release of 48 prisoners of north Iraq’s Kirkuk Province from Baghdad’s Rusafa Prison, out of 65 prisoners of the same Province, under his personal bail, during his visit to the prison, a Ministry spokesman said, adding that the Minister would try to release the others. “The Education Minister has visited Baghdad’s Rusafa Prison, accompanied by Legislature Mohammed Karbouly and the Prison’s Director, and managed to help the release of 48 prisoners, out of 65 prisoners from Kirkuk Province, and under his personal bail,” Walid Hassan told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Minister Tamim shall try to release the remaining Kirkuk prisoners, who are not sentenced yet, also by his personal bail, after getting acquainted with the conditions of the prisoners and his meeting with a number of them,” Hassan pointed out. Noteworthy is that Education Minister, Mohammed Ali Tamim, belongs to al-Iraqiya Alliance, led by former Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, and he is a Kirkuk citizen.
