(IraqiNews.com) On Monday, New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said that both New Zealand and Australia could team up in the international campaign against the ISIS group.

In an interview with Radio New Zealand, Key said: “New Zealand and Australia army troops could team up once again to fight the militants of the ISIS group after 100 years since the ANZAC alliance in World War I.” And according to TV New Zealand, Key has announced that he has spoken with his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott about the idea of army troops from both countries teaming up in the anti-ISIS campaign in Iraq and Syria.”

Australia has already deployed around 400 military advisors in Iraq to help train Iraqi forces to fight ISIS while Key noted he would be sending between 40 to 100 soldiers from New Zealand.

Noteworthy, NZ Prime Minister John Key confirmed last month, that there are 5 New Zealanders fighting with the ISIS group in Iraq and Syria, and that the government has up to 40 people on the watchlist.
