URGENT: ISIS controls Oil Institute, distribution and chemical detergents buildings in Biji oil refinery
(IraqiNews.com) The Mayor of Baiji, Mohammed Mahmoud al-Jubouri announced on Tuesday, that ISIS militants have gained control over the Oil Institute and the buildings of Salahuddin distribution branch and the chemical detergent company inside Biji oil refinery, while stated that violent clashes are still going for the third day between the militants and the security forces.
Al-Jubouri said in an interview, “Elements of the ISIS group were able to control the Oil Institute the Salahuddin distribution branch and the chemical detergent company buildings inside Biji oil refinery after penetrating the refinery’s defensive fortifications,” explaining that, “Violent clashes continue for the third consecutive day between elements of the organization and the security forces in charge of protecting the refinery.”
Al-Jubouri added, “Five suicide bombers wearing explosive belts blew themselves up inside the refinery, targeting the security forces there,” and noted, “Dozens of ISIS elements have fallen dead and wounded in the clashes.”
