Allawi met Barzani to withdraw trust from PM Maliki – legislature

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A legislature in al-Iraqiya Coalition has said on Wednesday that the Coalition’s Chairman, Iyad Allawi, had held talks with the President of Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, to reach a joint vision to withdraw trust from the government of Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, denying that the motive of the meeting “had been to bargain on the problem of Kirkuk, as the Arab Community in the Province claimed.”   “The motive of the meeting had been to reach a joint consensus between al-Iraqiya and the the Kurdistan Coalitions, in order to strengthen the concept of the genuine partnership and to withdraw the trust from Maliki’s government,” Whida al-Jumaily told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Jumaily said that both sides “did not discuss the bargaining on Kirkuk issue, in order to achieve joint motives, as it was claimed,” adding that “al-Iraqiya Chairman, Iyad Allawi, can’t discuss the Kirkuk issue at the current sensitive timing, when Kirkuk is still an Iraqi Province and its dossier is complicated and serious.”   The Arab Community in Kirkuk Province’s Council had demanded al-Iraqiya Chairman, Iyad Allawi, to uncover the details of his visit to Arbil and his meetings with Barzani, pointing out that Arab voters in Kirkuk Province had given their votes to the representatives of al-Iraqiya, expressing fear from a bargaining by both sides on the issue, aimed at merging Kirkuk with Kurdistan Region.   SKH (TI)/SR 741
