Barzani discusses formation of Supreme Council for Kurdistan Parties with Islamic Opposition Leader

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The President of northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, has discussed with the Leader of the Kurdish Opposition’s Islamic Group, Mulla Ali Bapear, the formation of a Higher Council for Political Parties in the Region, calling on Kurdistan’s Parties to share in taking political decisions, a Kurdistan Presidency official reported on Tuesday.   “Barzani and Bapear have discussed today (Tuesday) the re-establishment of the Supreme Council for Political Parties, as well as the establishment of an Integrity Commission and the issuance of a Law on the Elections Commission, with the participation of all parties in taking the political decisions,” the press Secretary of the Region’s Presidency, Faisal Dabbagh said.   He quoted Bapear as saying after the meeting that “the general situation in Kurdistan Region is suitable for the settlement of all problems,” adding that “all eyes are directed towards the Kurdistan President’s steps to bring closer the different Iraqi parties,” calling for “necessity to respect all resolutions, issued by the Region’s President and cooperation with him to implement those resolutions.”   SKH (TI)/SR 353
