MP describes Pishmirga deployment in Kirkuk as "Illegitimate"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Salam al-Maliki, of the State of Law Coalition confirmed that “The deployment of the Pishmirga elements or the Kurdish Security forces, Asayish, in Kirkuk is illegitimate,” noting that “The weapons must be limited by the hands of State forces and there is no place for any armed groups in any province.”

He stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) “The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, is the General Commander of the Armed Forces and he is the only authorized person to give the legitimacy to any armed side.”

“We implemented the law of disarming the militias all over the Iraqi provinces and many political sides abided by this law,” he added, stressing that “Kirkuk is not an exception in this regard as it should be under the custody of the General Commander of the Armed Forces as well as the security ministries.”

“The Governmental forces have the duty of sustaining the security while the Asayish or Pishmirga elements have their limited duties inside Kurdistan Region only,” he concluded.
