Sadrist MP: Iraqi governmental institutions become offices for political parties

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Hussein Resan, of al-Ahrar Bloc within the Sadr Trend confirmed that “The Independent High Electoral Commission became just like the rest of the governmental institutions which are based on the quotas away from being independent.”

Resan stated “The Iraqi governmental institutions turned into offices for political parties because they were divided according to sectarian basis,” noting that “It was intended, from the beginning of the political process, to form the new political process in Iraq according to sectarian norms when the US Civil Commander, Paul Bremer, adopted this orientation in establishing the new State of Iraq in 2003.”

He continued saying that “The vote on the IHEC law, in last September, was based on quotas away from the independence similar to the other governmental offices.”
