South Oil Company personnel raise Iraqi flag at Fakka oilfield

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The police director of the South Oil Company in Basra said it has raised the Iraqi flag at well no. 4 of the Fakka oilfield following a complete withdrawal of Iranian forces from the site. “Police forces working for the oil company have been deployed to well no. 4 of the Fakka oilfield…,” Brig. Moussa Hassan Dar told IraqiNews.com news agency. Earlier today, a spokesperson for the Iraqi government said that Iranian forces had withdrawn from the oilfield to their original positions. An Iranian force raided the Fakka oilfield in Missan province on December 18, 2009 and raised an Iranian flag there. The incident created tension between the two countries as the Iraqi government urged Iran to withdraw its troops immediately. SS (P)/SR 2
