Vice-Presidency one-basket vote unconstitutional – Independent MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Independent MP Judge Wa’il Abdul Lateef declared today that the voting for Vice-Presidency posts in one basket is unconstitutional and illegal. “The parliament ended its second term by voting in one basket for the posts, which is unconstitutional and illegal,” Lateef told IraqiNews.com. “The constitution stipulates granting them trust on unilateral basis, not in a basket deal”, he added. The Iraqi Parliament voted on Thursday in majority for Adel Abdul Mehdi, Tariq Al-Hashimi and Khudhair Al-Khuza’i as vice president in one basket, at a time the observers believed that this move is unconstitutional.
