2 projects for Basra municipality finalized

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Works on two projects to rehabilitate and reconstruct facilities belonging to the Basra Municipality Department were finalized at a cost of 700 million Iraqi dinars as part of the Provincial Development Budget (PDB) projects for the year 2008, according to a local official in Basra. “The projects envisaged the construction of an additional two-storey warden in the municipality at a cost of 335 million Iraqi dinars,” Ali Hannoun, the Basra Reconstruction Unit’s media chief, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The second project, finalized at a cost of 264 million Iraqi dinars, involved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the al-Ribat municipality intersection municipality building in line with up-to-date specifications,” Hannoun said. He added that the two projects took six months and were carried out by two local companies in Basra. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
