7 power networks at $2.5m in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Seven power networks were inaugurated in different areas of Basra province on Sunday after their rehabilitation was finalized at 2.95 billion Iraqi dinars ($2.5 million), according to the an official from the company carrying out the project. “The first network was set up in al-Saad neighborhood in al-Qurna, (100 km) northern Basra, the second on al-Qa’ed street in central Basra and the third in al-Jumhuriya area, al-Zubair district, (35 km) western Basra,” Eng. Ali al-Layeth told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The other four were established in the areas of Old Basra, al-Amn al-Dakhili, Nowab al-Dhobbat and al-Qibla,” he added. Layeth noted that these works were carried out through the use of 238,000 meters long of high pressure wires, 175,000 posts and 70 transformers of various capacities. The oil-rich port city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
