Basra governor, deputy British envoy tackle development strategy

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: The governor of Basra has discussed with a British delegation led by the deputy ambassador to the country, John Wilkes, a strategic plan for a comprehensive development in the province. “The talks with the British delegation covered a re-planning of the city,” Shaltagh Abboud al-Mayah told IraqiNews.com news agency. Both sides have agreed to set up an operations room comprised of representatives of the United Nations, the United Kingdom, Basra province ad the provincial council to implement the plan, the governor indicated. The Shiite city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
