Swedish companies express desire to invest in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Swedish ambassador on Monday expressed his country’s companies’ desire to invest in Iraq and build new economic relations with the country, the director of the national investment authority said. “The deputy president of the authority, Salar Ameen, discussed on Monday (Jun 1) ways to bolster economic and investment cooperation with Iraq with the Swedish ambassador in Baghdad and a number of Swedish officials,” Hanan al-Saeedi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Swedish side conveyed its companies’ desire to open offices in Iraq to start a new stage of joint cooperation and to contribute in reconstructing Iraq ,” she explained. “Ameen voiced his authority’s readiness to provide the Swedish investors and companies with all facilities and remove all obstacles could face them in Iraq ,” she said. Iraq was one of the biggest markets in the Middle East for Swedish products in 1980s. SH (P)/SR 1
