U.S. drinking water facility in Sadr City

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Mayor of Baghdad, Sabir al-Isawi, on Wednesday opened al-Rusafa drinking water facility in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, which was funded by the U.S. government with a total amount of $65 million. The head of Baghdad’s provincial council and U.S. ambassador to Iraq attended the celebration for this occasion. “This facility will provide clean drinking water to Sadr City’s residents,” said a release issued by the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The project is the result of the partnership between the city of Baghdad, the U.S. embassy, and the Multi National Forces (MNF) in Iraq,” it added. According to the release, the facility will provide 100,000 cubic meters per day of clean drinking water. The project took three years, from 2005 to 2008, to finalize. MH (P)/SR    1
