MoE calls Maysan officials to forbid overhunting phenomenon

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Environment called on “The local government of Maysan province to adopt deterrent measures against the overhunting for some important wild animals such as beers and hyenas in Teeb border district associated to the province.”

A statement by the Ministry assured “The Environment Department of Maysan monitored several cases of overhunting for some important wild animals.”

The statement added that “Maysan Health Department observed a phenomenon of overhunting for rare and endangered animals in this area which negatively affects the biodiversity and causing loss of natural components of the environment.”

“The Environment Ministry called the local government in Maysan to confront this phenomenon and its serious impacts on the environment by forbidding the random and overhunting,” the statement concluded.
