2 alleged car bombs seized in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi security forces seized two alleged car bombs on Tuesday in two different places in Basra province. “Security forces in Basra currently consider any car parked in an unsuitable place as a potential target ,” Ali Ghanim, head of the province’s security committee, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Tight security measures in Basra came after yesterday’s three blasts in the province that left 30 people dead and 226 wounded. Earlier, Ghanim said that Arab sides are involved in yesterday’s blasts in Basra. “We have confirmed intelligence information that one Arab state supported and another planned the blasts,” he explained. Ghanim stressed that despite the Arab involvement, the blasts were carried out by Iraqi hands.   “Basra was targeted because it ranks ahead of other Iraqi cities in rebuilding and prosperity,” he noted. The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad.    MH (P)/SR 5
