Nineveh (IraqiNews) Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, on Thursday, capturing four members of the Islamic State’s Diwan al-Jund, east of Mosul.

“Karama Police Directorate, backed by Anti-Terrorism forces captured four members of Diwan al-Jund in the Islamic State group,” Spokesman for the ministry, General Saad Maan, said in a press statement.

Maan added that the operation was conducted based on judicial arrest warrants. Furthermore, he pointed out that the ongoing cooperation with the citizens helped in the success of the operation.

The apprehended terrorists were members of the so-called IS Diwan al-Jund, during the IS era in Mosul, Maan explained. The criminals were arrested in Hayy al-Teseen area, east of Mosul.

It is noteworthy that IS insurgents took control over the city of Mosul on June 2014, after defeating the Iraqi army. An estimated 500,000 civilians fled from the city, due to the conflict.

In October 2016, Iraqi Army and al-Hashd al-Shaabi launched an offensive to liberate Mosul City from the IS control.

Former Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of the city on July 2017, after nearly nine months of urban warfare.
