Turkish warplanes resume bombardmen?t of Kurdistan’?s border areas

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Turkish warplanes resumed bombardment of several areas in northern Iraqi Kurdistan’s border areas late Monday night and at dawn Tuesday, a Kurdistan Workers Party source reported.   “The Turkish warplanes have carried out air raids late Monday night and at dawn Tuesday on Kiortak and Kozina areas of Qala-Diza Township east of Sulaimaniya city,” Ahmed Dinez told IraqiNews.com news agency.   He said that the bombardment had caused severe material damage in the raided areas, along with causing electric power cuts.   “At least 8 warplanes, belong to the Turkish Air Force, had carried out the air raids,” he said, but stressed that the raids did not cause human casualties.   Noteworthy is that border areas in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region had witnessed Turkish and Iranian air raids and artillery shelling, targeted against the anti-Ankara Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK) and the anti-Tehran Free Life Party (PJAK), which both countries claim that they are taking refuge in border areas in Iraqi Kurdistan.   SKH (TI)/SR 265
