Kurdish Encyclopedia for Journalism in Iraq published recently

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The first edition of “Kurdish Encyclopedia for Journalism in Iraq” was published lately by its author Faiq Batti. The 900-page middle-sized encyclopedia concentrated on the history and development of Kurdish journalism since its inception in 1898, with archive photos for most of the papers, magazines and publications, either party or independent ones. It included the names of Kurdish pioneers and their historical roles in journalism. Author Batti, who is called the Head of Iraqi journalism and its biographer, was born in Baghdad in 1935, studied in the American University in Cairo and had B.A.in Journalism in 1958 to return and be editor-in-chief of Al-Bilad newspaper in 1963. Batti is one of the founders of Iraqi Union of Journalists in Iraq in 1970s, in addition to his work in different papers as editorial secretary. He got his Ph.D.in journalism from Moscow for his thesis “the Leftist Journalism in Iraq“. In 1979, he was obliged to migrate to Europe for political reasons, where he was editor in chief of several papers. He published 15 books on the history of journalism in Iraq, either internally or as expatriate. 135
