Iraqi forces kill 30 ISIS fighters, local commander and mufti near al-Azim dam in Baqubah

Diyali (IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, the head of the police force Gen. Officer Gamil al-Shamri announced that 30 ISIS militants have been killed in violent clashes near the dam of north Baqubah.

Al-Shamri stated for IraqiNews, “Iraqi S.W.A.T forces accompanied by armed volunteers with heavy weapons clashed with ISIS militants around the dam of al-Azim, located 80 km north of Baqubah. The heavy clashes between the two sides resulted in killing 30 ISIS elements including Arab as well as Chechen citizens, and destroying 6 bombed vehicles that were prepared to target the security forces.”

He added, “The operation resulted in killing the military leader of ISIS in al-Azim area and the Mufti (cleric) of ISIS.”
