 Peshmerga forces repel two major assaults on eastern Mosul

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) On Wednesday, a military source in Nineveh province stated, that the paramilitary Kurdish Peshmerga forces foiled two major assaults by the ISIS group militants on eastern Mosul.

The source informed IraqiNews, “The Peshmerga forces have managed to repel an attack by the ISIS group militants on the area of Khazr, located in eastern Mosul,” pointing out that, “The militants used heavy weapons during the attack.”

“The international coalition warplanes have backed the Peshmerga in battling the militants,” the source added.

“ISIS militants have carried out another attack on sites for the Peshmerga in the area of Ba’shiqah, however, the attack was foiled, and their ranks have been forced to withdraw when faced by heavy artillery fire by the Peshmerga forces.”
