Abbawi heads meeting of mutual Iraqi-Australian Committee in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Labid Abbawi, chaired a meeting of the mutual Iraqi-Australian Committee for Follow-up and Coordination to discuss “The implementation of the Memorandums of Understanding concluded with Australia.”

A statement by the FM cited “Abbawi chaired the meeting of the Committee which discussed putting the MoUs concluded with Australia, into effect.”

“He talked during the meeting, which was attended by Australian Ambassador to Iraq Lyndal Sachs, besides other Australian representatives and Iraqi officials, about the utmost importance to develop the relations with Australia as a key partner for Iraq and the need to activate the mutual ties through carrying out the MoUs between both countries,” the statement added.

“For her part, the Australian Ambassador pointed out that the Australian Aid Program has been reduced, therefore, they are eager to establish relations of cooperation between the two countries, since Iraq has vast fortunes that encourage Australian companies and investors to join the Iraqi market.”

“The meeting specified 12, November to be the date for the next conference in Australia,” the statement concluded.
