Hashimi, MUSAID discusses expanding Iraqi-Turkish economic cooperation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A statement by the Office of the judicially wanted Vice-President, Tariq al-Hashimi announced that “Hashimi visited the organization of the Turks Independent Businessmen in Istanbul [MUSAID] and met with its president Nael Albak and discussed with him many economic and trade issues and investment opportunities of mutual interest.”

This is the first time when Hashimi’s office announces about a formal activity or Hashimi since he left Iraq last April due to the charges against him of being involved in terrorist operations, which led to his trial in absentia.

This step came after media reports about Hashimi’s suffering from disturbed mental situation which were denied by his office and considered them as away to target Hashimi.

A statement by the temporary Information Office for Hashimi in Kurdistan, received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited Wednesday that “Hashimi visited the headquarters of Turkey’s independent businessmen in Istanbul [MUSAID] and met with Nael Albak and discussed with him a number of suggestions and ideas to develop and maximize the size of trade between Iraq and Turkey.”

It added that “Hashimi praised the organization’s experience and considered it an effective and important means to develop the skills and abilities of young people, particularly in a country like Iraq.”

The statement mentioned that “The head of the organization called al- Hashimi to participate in the annual meeting of the Organization scheduled next October in Istanbul.”
