Parliamentary committee to distribute IHEC’s seats on blocs, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Kurdistani Alliance’s MP Muayed al-Tayeb assured that “The Iraqi parliament decided to form a mini- committee to take the responsibility of distributing the seats of the Independent High Electoral Commission on the constituents of the Iraqi People within the next two days.”

“The meeting held on Tuesday between the Chairmanship of the Parliament and the heads of blocs resulted in an agreement to keep the nine members of IHEC rather than increasing the number into 15,” he stated to Iraqi News.

He added “The committee will comprise two members from the Iraqi national Alliance in addition to a member from each the Iraqiya Slate and the Kurdistani Alliance.”

“The attendees of Tuesday meeting also agreed to reject the amendment of the IHEC’s commissioners Board in Parliament and keep it as nine members who will be selected out of 30 nominees to be presented for voting in Parliament,” MP Tayeb concluded.
